I. Our Responsibility—Practice and display certain attitudes and mindsets toward God and one another while we suffer and wait for Jesus to come back.
#1- Humility before God (v. 6).“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you…”
#2- Cast your anxiety on Him (v. 7). “casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
#3- Be sober-minded and watchful (v. 8). “Be sober-minded; be watchful”
#4- Resist of the devil, firm in your faith (v. 9). “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour, resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of sufferings are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
#5- Stand firm in the grace of God (v. 12). “I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it”
#6- Care and love for one another (v. 14). “Greet one another with the kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.”

#1- He will exalt us (v. 6). “…so that at the proper time he may exalt you…”
#2- He cares for us (v. 7) “casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you”
#3- He calls us (v. 10). “the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ”
#4- He restores us (v. 10) “will himself restore”
#5- He confirms us (v. 10) “will himself…confirm”
#6- He strengthens us (v. 10) “will himself…strengthen”
#7- He establishes us (v 10) “will himself…establish”
