The parable of the sower is really all about the condition of the soil: whether it will receive the seed spread, and whether it is of such a kind that the seed will grow and prosper. Like the seed in the parable, the call or the plea of Wisdom goes out to all . . . the only question is the condition of the hearts upon which the call falls. Will a heart respond positively or negatively? There is always a response. The fool will reject or refuse to heed the call, but the one in whom the Spirit is working will turn. Here at the end of this first proverb, we will see that by the grace of God, He calls all to return and repent, but fools reject the call and perish in silence, but the children of God will receive it and be blessed with life.
