Most of us enjoy hearing testimonies bearing witness of amazing divine help. Rightly so. How encouraging to hear of lifted spirits, physically ill bodies made suddenly well, money provided at just the right time, housing provided of just the right kind at just the right time. Many of us enjoyed reading George Mueller's book, Answers to Prayer. It's amazing. But what about committed believers who prayed much but were not healed? What about believers who are good workers seeking employment but found none, what about good workers who didn't get the hoped for pay raise but instead were fired simply because they were believers? Hebrews 11:35-40 refers to people who instead of testifying of great break-through, great provision in the nick of time, testify of death, torture, homelessness, in short great suffering because they are excellent believers. Which is more common throughout church history? Are you suffering more as you grow in grace more? View your suffering thruogh the lenz of this passage.
