Exposition of John's Gospel - Part 74 Exposition - John 17:1-11.
This sermon was delivered at the Princess Chapel Church in Ashland, KY by Pastor Douglas Salyer, Exposition of John's Gospel from the text John 17:1-11.
This message shows us the first of three sections of this glorious chapter where Jesus made the High Priestly Prayer of Intercession for all those that the Father gave Him.
This first portion covers our Justification, where the LORD prayed for our salvation.
But in order to really understand this prayer, one must know who He is praying for. Verse 20, taken into the proper context of the entire chapter tells us this. 'Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.'
Verse 11 adds to the context in a better understanding 'I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.'
Because in this text Jesus plainly states - 'As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.'
