In our lesson today, we are going to spend some time with the disciples and others who witness the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These disciples went through the sad day filled with disappointment. They went through a silent day filled with disillusionment. Where would they go from here? What should they do now? The Savior who they had placed all their hope in lay silent in the grave. They would experience a surreal day that where the good news seemed like an idle tale. Could the good news of Jesus Christ overcoming sin, death, and the grave be true? Is there hope beyond the grave? Can we experience eternal life now? Certainly. We want to examine this in Luke 23:44-24:12. The title will be “It’s a New Day.” We will consider 1) The Sad Day of Jesus Christ’s Death 2) The Silent Day of Jesus Christ in the grave and 3) The Surreal Day of Jesus Christ resurrection. It was an unbelievable, miraculous, incredible, awesome, powerful, glorious, heaven-breaking into earth kind of day. It was good news. The good news is that it is a good day, because every day, those sad, silent, and exciting days, can be good days when we are grounded in the glorious truth of the gospel.
