Lifting Up Christ Into: There is nothing more to celebrate more than the ressurection of Jesus Christ. (v.27) we see Jesus agonizing over sin that is soon to be placed upon Him. By his ressurection He crushed the sepents head. The text goes on to illustrate what happened in Numbers, where people where dying because of their sin, and Moses went to God, powerless to save them, and recieved instruction to lift up the Brazen Serpent. HOW MUCH like our condition as sinners. Several sins are mentioned that Christians commit (in a sense not lifting Christ up before all) indifference, unbelief, selfishness. BUT when Jesus is lifted He will draw all men to himself:
1. He will draw our 'kindred' (FAMILY)
2. He will draw all sinners. ("and such were some of you...") [P.W. runs through various Bible characters and expounds on this truth). Luke 23:39.
3. He will draw all even the ends of the earth (Missions).
POINTS TO PONDER: I am glad that Jesus does the work of drawing men to Himself, and that all He is asking us to do is to lift Jesus high in our lives for all to see.
We could never wash our hands of the sinners of this world, we are called to be witnesses to everyone,,the people we do business with, work with, the clery, teller, everyone needs to see Jesus lifted up. |
