The fruit of the Spirit is ... patience (longsuffering). Patience is one of the attributes of God that seems to have no context for exercise apart from a world of sin, just as grace, mercy, justice and wrath. Could this be one of the reasons God created a world He knew would fall into sin? This patience takes two forms: God waits for His own plans to be fulfilled in the time He has appointed and God patiently endures the hostility of the wicked as He waits on His own appointed day of judgment. When the Spirit of God dwells in us, this same patience will be evident. We will have patience to wait on God's timing and the fulfillment of God's promises AND we will be patient under suffering and patient with the faults of others.
