Young children are to obey their parents, and when they grow older to respect and honor them, even caring for them according to their need. Parents are to bring up their children in the instruction and discipline of the Lord. The chief end of the family is to glorify God, not primarily to serve itself or any one of its members. The family is ordained by God to be a trustee of righteousness and justice.
