The Calling of the Disciples an Example of the Doctrine of Election
The calling of the disciples is an example of the doctrine of election. Christ chose the disciples. They did not choose Him. Christ chose them unconditionally, not on the basis of merit or foreseen potential. Christ chose them for good works, not because of good works. Christ chose them effectually. When He called, they dropped everything and followed. His call was irresistibly attractive to them.
