At the end of 1 Corinthians 1, Paul summarizes the content of the chapter in verse 30: "But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption." Through most of this chapter, Paul has been discussing the wisdom of God, which leads us to salvation and continues as the substance of what we believe as Christians. But Christ does not just give us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and final redemption; He IS all of that for us. The substance of all we are as believers -- past, present and future -- is found in Jesus Christ. Therefore, our salvation is not about us; it is all about Christ. And PAul emphasizes how that happened in the first place at the beginning of that verse: BY HIS DOING. God is the One who deserves credit for everything that we are and have in Christ because He is the One who put us there in the first place. Therefore, we have nothing to boast about and all glory should go to God.
