The question is where does the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24; Mark 13 and Luke 21) fit into Peter's eschatology in chapter 3?
II. The Three Cycles of Matthew 24
A. Cycle One 4-14
These are the things that must happen first – before the destruction of the Temple. “And then the end will come” – jumps all the way to the end of the world
B. Cycle Two 15-28
More elaboration on the destruction of the Temple. 24:15 – compare with Luke 21:20.
C. Cycle Three 29-31
This cycle only mentions 70 AD in passing. The focus here is on Christ's Second Coming, which is obviously not a secret.
III. Five Parables and a Warning Concerning the Second Coming: Matthew 24:32-25:46
A. The Fig Tree v. 32-34
This one has primary reference to 70 AD. That would explain v. 34 – this generation shall not pass away. See Luke 21:20-24
B. Comparing The Great Day with Noah's Day 35-44
C. The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant v. 45-51 The point is readiness.
D. The Wise and Foolish Virgins 25:1-13 Again, the point is readiness
E. The Talents 25:14-30
This parable deals with how we are to live our life while we wait for the Lord's return.

Great Sermon! The question is where does the Olivet Discourse(Matthew 24; Mark 13 and Luke 21) fit into Peter's eschatology in chapter 3? That is a good question and this sermon has the answer. I hope a lot of people will listen and think about it. The sermon "The Second Coming" goes along with this sermon and is also very good.

Great Sermon! This sermon and the one preached before it titled The Second Coming of Christ really go together, if you listen to one make sure you listen to the other also. Like I said for the last sermon, I repeat here again, it's the best sermon on the second coming of Christ I've ever heard and I believe the most accurate.
