Join us as we notice the contrast in Jacob's two different journeys to Bethel or the House of God.
The first time Jacob went to Bethel – the house of God — Luz — the place of separation — he was FLEEING from someone or something — trouble. He was running from a problem.
The second time we see him going to Bethel – the house of God — Luz — the place of separation — he was FOLLOWING Someone. Now we see him going to meet with a Person and he's not running from but running to the house of God to separate himself for His service. He not fleeing a problem but following the presence and precepts of His Shepherd.
Therefore, during the past twenty years, at a particular point, something has changed or we can say, "Someone has changed, touched, transformed the man." Now, remember, in Genesis 28 we see a natural man making this all about the natural dynamics of the place and his purpose. And we see God working with the man because of His plan. We see a man destined for grace. In Genesis 35 we see the plan of God being brought forth, through the man, who's now grappled with God and transformed by His grace.
