Have you ever done anything well? Have you ever been able to step back and look at something that you did and think, “that is good?” Have you ever spent time building something or crafting something and found joy in the excellent quality of the work which you accomplished? Although we get glimpses of good things, we can all say that we do not do all things well. I know my failures better than anyone in this room besides the Lord. As a result, the Bible states that there is none good, no not one. The only Good One is God. God the Father was willing to send God the Son into the world and empower Him through God the Holy Spirit to give us a picture of the goodness of God on the black canvas of sin. God would send His only begotten Son into the world filled with disease, deformity of human bodies, depression due to human failure, disobedience to God and His goodness, and death. The world is broken, but we must not start from outside and work inward. We all need to see that our own sinful hearts are deceptive, dark, and in need of deliverance. Physical bodies are broken and sometimes do not function at the maximum level. There is wear and tear on the body. Jesus stepped into this world filled with sin, pain, suffering, and death to give us a path to overcome. In the life of Jesus, we see God’s goodness shine through in His life and ministry. The ministry of Jesus was like streams in the desert where He made the impossible possible by His glorious power. Everything Jesus did, He did well. This morning as we look in Mark 7:31-37 and Matthew 15:29- 31, I want us to see Jesus. The title for today’s message will be “All Things Well.”
