The coming of the promised Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost brought special and exciting implications for the church and the world. As well as bringing a unique endowment to the ministry of the apostles, authenticating their Gospel ministry, the Holy Spirit also enabled the growing church to become a missionary church, reaching out, and taking the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, not only to the Jews, but also to the Gentile nations.
Not an 'It', nor just a 'Force', but rather the Divine, Third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit's work was, and is, to magnify the Lord Jesus Christ. In so doing He convicts of sin, of righteousness (not our own, but Christ's), and of judgement.
What, dear friend, will be your end? Do you know that your sins have been forgiven? We pray, "pour out your Spirit, Lord", that peoples of every nation, tribe and tongue may be delivered from unbelief, and trust in Jesus Christ, the Saviour of sinners. |
