The Prophets Haggai and Zechariah were used by God to stir the leaders and people of Judah to resume the rebuilding of the temple after a 15 year interval. When the Persian Governor of the region tried to intimidate them into stopping again, this time, encouraged by the word from the Lord that He was with them, they would not stop. They boldly express that they had been given permission in a decree to rebuild the temple by Cyrus. The Governor sends a letter to Darius, the new ruler of Persia, to see if a record be found of that decree.
