An historical record was found verifying that King Cyrus had issued a decree authorizing the rebuilding of the Temple. So King Darius issued a decree that the rebuilding could continue and that the Persian leaders in that region were not only to allow it to continue, but were also to provide the resources and whatever was needed for the completion of the project and the worship that would take place at the Temple. The rebuilding project was completed in 516, 70 years after the destruction of Solomon's Temple by the Babylonians. The people of God then rejoiced with great joy as they dedicated the Temple and observed Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The LORD was the source of their joy.
