The world's darkness cannot extinguish Christ's light. The early church showed Christ's spirit in its sacrificial care of its poor and successful gospel witness. Satan attacked it through: a lying spirit, intimidation, and complaints. Christ overcame these things through: punishment of sin, the witness of the Spirit and the use of Gamaliel, and a wise provision to provide for the poor. This shows reminds us to cooperate with Christ in: church discipline, trust in his promises, and appointment to office of people he has gifted to his church.
