Today in Genesis 14, Abram will encounter a couple of tests in his life of faith. It is during these tests that his faith will be called into action. We will benefit from studying his responses to these tests because we face the same kind of tests in our lives as well. Test #1 – Will I help my brother in need? Abram has a decision to make. Does he try to rescue his nephew Lot from this powerful enemy or does he stay put where it is safe? Do I step out in faith, trusting in the power of Almighty God? Or do I let Lot reap what he has sown? Serves him right anyway. He chose to live in Sodom. He made his bed and now he can lie in it. Action #1 – Abram Goes After Lot. Test #2 – Will I give up my rights for the glory of God? God's Gracious Intervention – Melchizadeck the priest-king Action #2 – Abram gives God the glory and refuses the spoils. Ultimate Test – Will I be reconciled to God? God's Gracious Intervention – Christ the Eternal Priest-King Action – Forsake your sin and embrace King Jesus as Savior
