VS 13-Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” & immediately the leprosy left him. •Jesus has the authority to Sanctify and Set Apart.•Vs10, Jesus said to Simon,“Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” •vs16 But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray. •Jesus set himself and his disciples appart for prayer and fellowship and to teach them more soundly as the Elect of God. To Sanctify can mean to set apart for sacred use; consecrate.Or it can mean to make holy; purify, save from sin. •Luke 5:17 •Luke 5:20 2.Divine Power. •Jesus had Power to Command the Disciples,The curse of sin, and Mans sinful Pride. Vs 10- Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men. vs-13 “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. •Luke 5:22–24 3. Divine prerogatives. •Obedience Expected- Starting from chapter 5:10 Jesus said "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men." But you do not hear from the disciples again until Luke 8:24, though they are there and though they are busy doing things. Jesus is teaching them by example. He doesn't exalt them to a position of authority right away, He places them in a position of Obedience, and service •Mercy Displayed Chpt. 5:12 Though this leper apparently didn't believe in Jesus for salvation,& he certainly didn't become Obedient to Jesus. Jesus still poured out His Mercy upon a sinner who was unclean physically
