In the Old Testament when Adam sinned, God promised a redeemer and initiated animal sacrifices. God established this so that He might be both Just and Justifier. He made provision based upon the promise of another that would come and Redeem His people. This redeemer had to be from the Line of Adam, a Man, and it was revealed that This Promised Redeemer would would be the One who would interceed between God and Men, as the Mediator. In the mean time God made provision to temper His own Wrath. He allowed for animal sacrifices as an Atonement for sin. According to the Levitical Law, and He appointed Priest to be the representantive between God and Men, and they would sacrifice before God, sin offerings. But they were sinful men, and unable to make perfect sacrifices.Hebrews 5:1–5 In eternity past, God the Father has looked throughout all history and creation and found that none is worthy to stand as mediator between God and Man. Not one can satisfy God the Father's demand for the Mediator to be as Pure, Holy, Good, and Righteous as He is, and that this one be in the line of Adam, of the Seed of Abraham, and Issac, and David, and born of a Virgin in Bethlehem. Not one single person of all of Adam's line could fulfill God the Fathers requirement. But God the Father already knew this because it was a part of His sovereign Will and Plan, so God the Father Decreed the God the Son, who is The Sovereign Judge, would step down from His judgment seat and, God the Son would be the Mediator Himself, to satisfy His own wrath against sinful fallen Man. 1 Timothy 2:5 He fulfilled this role of Perfect Mediator through His sacrifice As our Substitutionary atonement.
