You may have noticed that this young preacher is definitely not as good looking as Pastor Chronister. But he is a pretty good Bible teacher. Meet Daniel Bird, the pastor of Rooted Community Church. He is kind enough to fill in for our pastor while he's recovering from four kidney surgeries.
We're back in Mark 6 and Mark 8. Last week we talked about Christ being the true bread. That it can't be earned. This week we go into multiplying the bread and fish. Christ could have made it from nothing, but He chose to increase existing material.
There are Old Testament connections, 2 Kings 4:42-44. Yes, there are always Old Testament compliments. That's where you get more of the story and more understanding. This is at the time of The Feast Day of First Fruits. Our guest pastor, Daniel digs into the connection details. This is Elisha, acting as a type of Christ. So, what is God revealing by the multiplication of food? Now, 2 Kings 4:1-7. And then 1 Kings 17:8-16 where Elijah increases food and Daniel gets into these and what God is revealing. We go over the disrespectful interpretations and back to the most God honoring gleanings, and also the difference between special revelation and general revelation. He even goes back to Cain and Able and Adam and Eve to point out how important special revelation is. Jesus is specific about who He is. Also, this relates to Genesis 2:22-23. God takes little from Adam and builds Eve. He gets into God giving us consciousness. We are contained and given reality by God, and He gives us life. Now connect that with Romans, where Paul talks about, where sin is, grace abounds.
This young preacher is not done, so... Tune in Next week...
