Aim: To love God, for giving us His written word—so as to lead us to His incarnate Word.
Doctrine: The words of God are lovingly designed to warn and restore sinners. God's churchmen should never lose heart, so long as there is a gospel; God would have His children stick with the Bible (as their text).
Exegesis: God's gracious use of His book: He looks to be merciful to those who believe it (vv. 1-3); He will hear the prayers of those who believe it (vv. 4-8); He gives it to all His church, so that we might believe it (vv. 9-10).
Further application: Godly attitudes to adopt regarding the scriptures: let us be thankful that they are written and unchangeable, and respectful of all the words of God (even the ''hard'' ones).
Key verse: v. 4 ''Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote on a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD that he had spoken to him.''
