Exegesis: The divine logic promoting holy devotion: there is virtue in temporal obedience (vv. 1-11); there is necessity in ultimate obedience (vv. 12-16); there is reward in all ''obedience'' (vv. 17-19).
Further application: The reasons anyone dares to disobey God: because no ''sight'' of Him lures sinners into atheism, and our flesh naturally disdains His honor.
Key verse: v. 16 ''The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have kept the command that their father gave them, but this people has not obeyed me.''
