In this passage, we have a word of exhortation not just to Thomas but to us. It is a calling to be a true believer. Do not be faithless but believing. Christ wants us to be characterized as a believer.
1. The substance of believing - a calling to believe in Christ's person (Jesus is the Christ) - a calling to believe in Christ's work (His death for our sins) - a calling to believe in Christ's word (the truths recorded in Scripture)
2. The blessings of believing - the blessing of worshiping with confidence (20:28) - the blessing of life (20:31) - the blessing of peace (20:19-21) - the blessing of gladness (20:20) - the blessing of serving Christ (20:21-23)
