Thesis: We are to be imitators of God and we are to walk in love as Christ walked. When we do NOT walk away from sin, we are violating what this passage teaches.
The Bible teaches that we as believers must walk away from sin, Why?
1. Selfish Sins Pervert God's Good Gifts
*But immorality - Pornea - It is self indulgent - Selfish love - Worldly love - 50/50 love
Jesus said in Matthew 5:46 "For is you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?"
*But Impurity - Uncleanness - Starts in the mind
Jesus said in Matthew 23:27 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but in side they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.
*But Greed - Idolatry
MacArthur said in his commentary regarding greed "greed is inseparable from impurity. Every for of sexual immorality is an expression of the self-will, self-gratification, and self-centeredness of greed. It is by nature contrary to love, which is self-giving. Immorality and impurity are but forms of greed."
2. Selfish Sins Rebel Against who we Really Are
*These sins are not tolerated by God and they should not be embraced by His Children
1 Peter 1:15 "but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior"
