INTO: We have been looking at 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. In verse 13 we learned that when God's people go astray, eventually He allows things to come into their lives that they can do nothing about. For Israel, a farming people, it meant such things as a drought or allowing locusts to cover the land. To add to that, it might be a time when they suffered severe health issues. Here are things they could do nothing about and in this way, God got their attention. The same can happen to an individual or a church. In the Babylonian captivity, many, many Jewish people died horrifying deaths and many others were deported to a strange land. It was at this time that Daniel was taken to Babylon. But in verse 14 God says that if God's people, which are called by His name, humble themselves and pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways He will hear from heaven and heal their land. The rains would come, the grasshoppers would go away, and the pestilence would be over.
