What is carnality? Carnality is desiring things that do not last beyond this life. It is the antithesis of desiring things that will be with us in eternity. Carnality is an expression Paul uses to describe the conflict only believers experience. When God adds the Holy Spirit to the believer's life, it creates a conflict between the natural spirit of man and the supernatural spirit of God.
In this lesson we contrast carnality with spirituality, which are in natural conflict with one another, and how to abate carnality in favor of walking in the Spirit. In 1 John 2.15-18 John outlines what carnality looks like - the lust of the eyes, lusts of the flesh, and the pride of life - and addresses the fact that carnality does not endure. It dies with the flesh.
