God expects some things from us when He saves us from sin. We have some responsibilities and obligations to God. We are to lay aside some things like we would an old worn out and dirty garment that we would be ashamed to be seen in. The things named here are malice, envying, hypocrisy, guile, and evil speaking. These things are not to be a part of our life and character and it is our responsibility to get rid of them. They are life-long habits that are hard to break, but we must because God tells us to. This is not works for salvation, but obedience to God, which is what a true child of God desires in his life.
