Glory... we're not ONLY accountable for what we have heard and seen — but we'll be held responsible and accountable for what we COULD HAVE heard and seen.
JUST because we neglect gathering, connecting and equipping the brethren for His work, doesn't mean He won't hold us responsible for what we had access to but chose to do something else. Teachers hold their students accountable for the information they put out regardless if their students are present or not. Each student is responsible for all that is taught.
Why would we ever think God wouldn't hold us accountable for the things He will speak to His people today? We can't claim ignorance. For we won't be acquitted or given a pass for our willful ignorance. God holds all men everywhere accountable. We see this with the captains and their men that were sent to the prophet. God held them accountable for their rebellion, even though they ignorantly walked into a trap for their rebel king.
I noticed while in we walked through Joshua that the Lord is pretty specific about where each family was to live and serve. I don't think He's changed any... he's still pretty detailed about the place He's assigned us to gather, connect and equip each other for His service. And better than anyone, He knows when we can't be there and when we neglect to be there. And like most good teachers, they show mercy to those who want to be in class but can't buy those who can and decide they have better stuff to do... well, you know the deal, mercy is the last thing they show.
