Religion, considered in terms of participation in religious rituals and rules or regulations can actually hinder instead of help your relationship with God. Going to church can innoculate some people against the gospel, leading them to think they are safe, protected and worthy of God's favor when in fact they are not. Some people misinterpret God's kindness.
