False teachers were, and are, an ongoing danger to the church. Three of their common characteristics are given to help in their identification. These include: 1) they want to be successful; 2) they want to fit in with the world so compromise; and 3) they want to brag about success. These selfish motives will be evident and with such motives they will undermine the work they deceptively give the impression of being invested in.
