The title of the message today is Living with God. That is not what your bulletin says because I changed the title since the bulletin was printed so you can make that correction in your notes. The title is Living with God because today in our study of the life of Jacob, we are going to consider the amazing truth that sinful people like you and me can live with God! When I say live with God I mean that you and I can have a personal, intimate relationship with God! We can fellowship with Him; we can grow in our knowledge of Him; we can cast our burdens on Him; we can rejoice in His promises; we can gaze at His beauty – we can find satisfaction for our souls that can be found no where else – by living with God! But living with God should not just be assumed, which brings me to point #1 of the sermon… 1) Sin Leaves Us Separated from God – v.10-11 How it is possible that a sinful man or sinful woman can live with a holy God? 2) God Graciously Dwells with individuals through Christ – v12-14 3) Christians have the joy and assurance that they will live with God forever! – v.15-17 O Christians! If we could grasp what a blessing it is to live with God! To have God as our God! To know that all of God's power and love is at work for His glory and our good. To realize that we have the privilege of knowing God and relating to Him all the days of our lives. Then God's command in 1 John 2 to not love the things of this world would be easy. We would say to the world – you can keep your evil, sinful temporary pleasures – I am going to live with my God – like I was created to do! Our Response: Trust and Live Wholeheartedly for God – v18-22
