There is an immeasurable value to every soul. Christ draws a comparison here to that which is temporal and that which is eternal. That which is of little value, and that which is of great value. Every person to whom you come in contact with has an eternal soul. And that soul is of a greater value than all the world's treasure combined. There can be no price tag placed on the soul. When confronted with a carnal conversation by His disciples of how much they valued this life. Jesus reminds them that this life is but short lived. Then, the Christ takes the discussion to a higher and loftier level when he asks this question…what shall it profit a man if he gained the whole world? If he had everything that he wanted, what would it profit him? if this life were all that there were, and there were no afterlife, that would be an admirable gain, BUT there is a 2nd part to this question, what if he gained the whole world, and lose his soul? And then what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
