Verse 9 --The Greek word for knowledge is an intensified word
Discernment is an excellent translation of aisthesis, found only here in the N.T. The Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible uses this word 22 times in Proverbs. Sometimes the English is translated “discernment” and sometimes “knowledge”.
Verse 10 -- Paul wants them to practice the most excellent things. -- Not just GOOD things – they should use their efforts to do the best things.
Sincere = unmixed, pure, genuine, moral integrity, a purity of heart, mind and conduct. Without offense = blameless, not causing anyone to stumble
Verse 11 – What is this “fruit” that the Apostle prays they would have? Galatians 5:22-23

2. Christians are to Practice the Highest Standards of Moral and Ethical Conduct v. 10
3. Christians are to Bear Fruit v. 11a -- John 15:1-8
4. The Chief End of man is to Glorify God and to Enjoy Him Forever v. 11b

Great Sermon! As Christians we have many responsibilities, that's true, this sermon touches on the most important ones. It's a very good sermon with a lot of heplful advice on how to grow in grace, knowledge and love. I really like what the Pastor said, something like...We can spend all our time doing good and never do what's better or best. It's something I've really been praying about, asking the Lord to show me what's better and best.
