Our text shows us that the results of his suffering is exaltation, the exaltation of our humanity. In himself, Jesus takes humanity to a state that, as we've learned before, Adam was supposed to, but failed to do. Adam fell short of glory. Jesus does not. He brings humanity to a glorious, exalted, and unchangeable state. And scripture gives us the maxims for this text, if you will. He who humbles himself will be exalted. Or God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble. Jesus is the exemplar of these scriptural maxims. The only one these can be truly and wholly said of in their maximal sense is Jesus.
