Now Samson's life gets a lot of attention in this book of judges because it is a cautionary tale of what can happen to a life consecrated to God but not lived for God. Samson had all the ability to be used of God to triumph over the enemies of God's people. But he failed and he toyed with the grace of God in his life and as a result he fell asleep in the lap of the enemy. He got to the point in his life where God left him and he didn't even know it. He ends up blinded and enslaved by sin. It is a warning to the Christian of today; to individuals who are supposed to be consecrated to God; ones who are gifted with His Spirit and graced with spiritual power; ones who are purposed by God to triumph in Jesus name over sin and the allurements of this world. We have been set apart to live for God. Our lives are to be tales of His power but instead they can become and so often are, cautionary tales of failure like that of Samson. The Question we ask is why did Samson fail and what caution should we take from it for our own lives.
I am afraid that Samson's story is being repeated often in the lives of Christians and in the church of today. Why… You may ask yourselves, ‘What must change?
