This afternoon we want to speak of the fortitude of spirit which we find manifested in the Lord Jesus Christ as He was going up to Jerusalem, where He knew that He would die. This fortitude of spirit gave Him the ability to do three things for His disciples. And I want you to know that this fortitude of spirit permits Him to do the same things for us, as we follow Him through all the difficult situations in our lives. 1st of all – Jesus' fortitude of spirit enabled Him to go before His disciples then, and He also goes before us now. 2ndly – Jesus' fortitude of spirit enabled Him to face betrayal and death, and to give hope to the disciples in the prospect of what His sufferings would accomplish. And 3rdly – Jesus' fortitude of spirit enabled Him to go on to do the Father's will, even when His disciples did not understand. This is what I hope that you will see clearly here this afternoon, and triumph in; the fortitude of spirit in Jesus Christ our Lord. He has and He will accomplish all things for us, that we might persevere in our faith; that we would come to have the same fortitude of spirit as He had.
