II. Walk worthy of the calling with which you have been called
III. How? A. In Humility B. In Gentleness C. In Patience D. In Forbearance E. In Love F. Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace
1. We already have unity, but we must preserve it 2. We must be diligent. This will take effort and work because there is a jerk inside all of us that wants to quarrel. 3. Remember that your personal doctrinal statement is not your righteousness; Christ is 4. Study Romans 14 and meditate on it. Many churches fight and split by a failure at this point. 5. Be quick to listen and slow to speak 6. Don't mock or insult other Christians who differ from you on a point, and watch the tone. 7. Don't run down a Christian to other Christians. 8. Don't use the church business meeting (or elder meeting, or deacon meeting, or staff meeting) to air grievances and grind axes. Try to resolve your differences with others in private, outside of such meetings. Public spats provoke bitterness and they're almost always unecessary.
