Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Churches are saying 50% of the youth have left or are leaving their churches. Now a new study on millennials traces the denominational journeys of the 20-40 year old crowd — the denominations gaining and losing millennials. The biggest losers are Methodists, Catholics, Liberal Presbyterians, and Fundamentalist Baptists, losing anywhere from 38 -52% of the young people who attended their churches as children. The greatest denominational gainers are atheists and agnostics. But, the Reformed Presbyterians and Reformed Baptists increased their millennial attendance by 200%, and the Anglicans have increased their millennial interest by 63%. Non-denominational churches increased millennial attendance by 21%. The study conducted by Generations.org surveyed 10,000 millennials, and found that churches most likely to disciple their members and hold them accountable are generally the most likely to grow. We interact with the Gen 2 survey on this edition of the program.Â

Great Sermon! Great podcast. Did your survey include Wisconsin synod and Missouri synod Lutherans? I joined the Wisconsin synod last year. They broke away from mainstream Lutherans in the 70s. Both are almost exactly like reformed churches--stress on Bible, pro life, anti LGBT, etc. The only difference is that Lutherans put more stress on Lord's supper. And these churches are healthy and growing. I hear the beautiful sound of babies and young children during each sermon. There is hope for God's church.

Great Sermon! Yup. I'm 21, I grew up in moralistic hypocrit church. God saved me and now I go to reformed. But if he hadn't saved me, I would not be going to any church.
I think it is because kids can spot hypocrites from a mile away
