Our church has been involved in a prison ministry for over 10 years. We have supported pastors and families that have suffered for their faithfulness to Christ. It is an important fact to remember that one does not have to be a criminal to go to prison. Not only was our Lord imprisoned (Isa. 53:8), but Peter, Paul and many other disciples (Heb. 11:36).
One of the pastors that our church supported began a Bible study while he was in prison. An inmate in that study complained that he did not have a Bible. The pastor told him to "write Brother Weaver and ask and that he would receive a Bible". He did write and ask. Pastor Weaver sent him a study Bible. Since that day the requests have multiplied to about 15 letters per month asking for Bibles. So far, we have mailed out over 1,000 Bibles.
