“ A Powerful Message on the Evil Conscience ”
The types, causes, and cures of the evil conscience are examined threefold: as DEFILED, it belongs to the unconverted, no matter what they may profess. Their polluted souls are incapable of beholding purity without defiling it, and may not even know it when they see it. It is caused by UNBELIEF, and the defiled need faith through the CLEANSING blood of Christ. As DEADENED, it belongs to the misled, who place convicting faith elsewhere than in truth, and so they are deaf to the Gospel and give heed to lies. It is caused by INJURY: by false teaching, religious or secular. Its cure is the new conscience that comes by REGENERATION. As DROWSY, it belongs to the rationalizers, who have fallen under God's wrath and respond with their wits rather than their conscience. They do not have a conviction of Hell or of Jesus' return. It is caused by DEATH IN SIN and is the effect of God's JUDGMENT. Its cure is SALVATION. |
