It seems to be a great problem for people to balance the love and mercy of God against the guilt and shame of sin. There are the two extremes and everyone seems to run to one or the other; either condemn them to death, or act as if the sin does not matter. What would have happened if the Lord had not been there when they brought this woman caught in adultery? She would have been thrown away, just like happens now when people judge one another without bringing Jesus Christ into the matter. Many scholars apparently think this passage should not be in the Bible, but I am so glad that it is. Jesus showed us how to deal with sin in others without drawing blood or offending God.
