In today's podcast I'm going to make some arguments for why you should have a regular routine of memorizing Scripture. If you're not already doing that, I know exactly what's going to happen in your heart the whole time you're listening. You'll be searching for every reason you can think of for why you don't really need to do this. I know that because that's what always happens in my heart in times of my life when I haven't been memorizing Scripture and someone makes an argument for why I should. The reason we do that is because of fear. We're afraid it's going to be so hard, it will make our lives miserable. If I'm convinced that I need to start memorizing Scripture, I'll have less happiness in my life because memorization is so difficult for me. But I think I can help with that. I'm going to give you a method that will take very little time and effort and it works well even for people with a bad memory. So today and Monday—just listen. Don't fight it. Don't resist, don't argue in your mind—just lower your defenses and listen. At the end, if the arguments aren't compelling to you, fine. If you are convinced, then tune in on Tuesday and we'll walk through how to add memorization into your daily routine without having to devote a ton of time to it.
