This is verse-by-verse expository preaching of Rev. 4.
Excerpts:
At first chapter 4 seems like a radical break from 1-3. Christ's message to John is, 'Yes, most of these 7 churches are corrupt, but do not lose heart. What you see on earth is not the whole picture. Come up to heaven and see that “All power is given unto me in heaven AND in earth.”(Mt. 28:18). All of human history is under My control, and is moving in one unstoppable direction: all things will be put under my feet shortly.' (I Cor 15: 24-25)
...This chapter is the foundation of all that follows in the book of Revelation. God is sovereign, He determines all that comes to pass, His people will not be defeated no matter how bleak it may look to them at any given time, all things are put under His feet.
...We are given a glimpse of what our worship of God is supposed to be: entirely God-centered. In the glimpse of worship in heaven we are given, do you notice any man-composed hymns? "Praise songs"? Rock bands? Drama? Choirs? Solos? "Liturgical dance"? Organs? Or any musical instruments at all? Is there a Pope, reigning supreme over the others?
Hardly. What is there? God on His throne, perfect justice and perfect mercy. You see His people respond with adoration.
...How indescribably happy we shall be when we, too, shall fall on our knees before the throne of the living God proclaiming, 'Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty...'
