Christians have seen the glory of God in the face of Christ. The writer of Hebrews is concerned lest, having seen this glory, we should revert to living by what can be seen, and for a life that is merely safe. What Israel saw on Mt Sinai was glorious, but Christians have come to a far greater place of glory that they did. We are witnessing the fulfilment of their prophecies, we belong to the One who defeated death, we are already at peace with our Judge and feel the warmth of God's jealous love without wanting to run away. We should be encourged not to live for what is mundain when we have 'come to' such things.
