Ezekiel's words are relevant for understanding where you live. How? If we are to think of ourselves – in some sense – as Jerusalem in Babylon, then Egypt represents that which we once hoped would rescue us. Pharaoh represents our idols that tempt us with promises of power and pleasure and peace.
Because it has always been tempting to trust in Egypt – to trust in the wealth, the power, the wisdom of this age. As you listen to the description of Egypt and Pharaoh, I want you to see that this is describing what you have trusted.
