Timothy is commanded by God to preach the Word. The preaching of the Word must have preeminence in the life of the church. To give less than preeminence to preaching is to dishonor the Word, God's appointed means. Paul told Timothy: Preach the Word, whether it is received or not. Don't change it, even if it can't be endured. Do not change the Word, or hold back the Word, to suit and not offend your audience. Paul's commitment to Christ shines at the end of his life, and here he is putting a huge emphasis on the preaching of the Word as he gives final instructions to Timothy.
