For fear of certain men, Peter behaved as if faith in Christ alone was not sufficient for salvation from sin. Having observed that others in the church were being misled by Peter's example, the apostle Paul promptly rebuked him before the church to emphasize that being justified by God requires nothing more than faith in Christ Jesus apart from any religious works.
