Last week, we considered the agony of the first Adam. What must it have been like for him to fail in the Garden and then live 930 years on earth, seeing the destruction he had wrought play out in his children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.? This week, we consider the agony of the Last Adam, Jesus Christ. Christ also endured much sorrow and agony, but for very different reasons than the first Adam. In every way, Christ is revealed as exceedingly superior to the first Adam. Whereas the first Adam experienced great sorrow because of his disobedience, the Last Adam experienced great sorrow because of his obedience in carrying ours.
