If we want to see the glory of God, and if we want to be glorious in our life, there is one place to look. Jesus is the outshining of or the glory of God and the gospel we preach is the gospel of the glory of Christ. If we hear the gospel and believe, we have, together with Paul, seen the glory of Christ.
John tells how this glory has been revealed by the word becoming flesh. He says the glory is the glory of his being the beloved Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. Then, remarkably, he tells us, 'From his fullness have we all received.' We may say that the glory passes into us because Jesus later says,'The glory you have given to me I have given to them'. Seeing God's glory, far from being forbidding, is the one thing we need. We have one chance of having a glorious life, and here it is, in Christ!
